Diabetes Awareness Workshop

Dr. Juana R Royster, Community Health Education Specialist, will offer the WSU/Joslin Diabetes Awareness Education Workshop Series to those who have or are at risk for diabetes and its complications. If you or you know someone who fits this criteria, please come or encourage someone else to come! Min. of 10 peoples required for enrollment.

Operation Frontline Presents: Cooking Demonstrations

Thursdays, September 9, October 14, And November 18, 11 a.m. - Noon
This Cooking Demo will provide a fun 1 hour cooking class on an easy, tasty, low cost and healthy recipe using seasonal produce. There will be a sample-size–tasting of the recipe. We will also discuss tips for how to cook for one, how to cook vegetables in the microwave (and make them taste good) and other topics. The classes will be lead by a Chef  Volunteer.  These classes are designed for everyone even those members who have Diabetes.  Please call Central Area Senior Center (CASC) to register this cooking series. Space is limited.

Open Weekdays 12:00 pm—1:00 pm
Café Central serves hot, nutrition meals in a friendly atmosphere every weekday. No reservations are required. Suggested donation is $3.00 for people 60 and better, and $6.00 for people under 60. A soup/sandwich lunch is available if requested one week in advance. Alternative desserts are available for diabetics, and low fat dressings are available as well. Please plan to bring bills no larger than $5.00 as larger bills may be difficult to change.
